1. Do you remember how the idea of forming the band first came up?
-It’s been a dream of mine since I’ve started playing. I think that’s why I keep it so close
to the heart. I’ve always had a vision for this band.
2.How long after you formed was it until you played your first live show?
-We formed in April of 2010, and I think our first live show was in late May or June of
2010.
3.What are your memories of the performance?
-I remember the feeling of finally being on stage. It compared to nothing I’ve ever
experienced. I felt…significant. I felt like I had a purpose. I remember thinking, oh man this is
gonna take me over, and it did.
4.Tell us about the band’s name?
-Crashing Daylight deals with the duality of life and coming to terms with what’s
real…past and present. The Crashing is the struggle that comes along with this realization and
the Daylight is the redemption and promise of another, brighter day.
5.What is your latest album and why should people buy it?
-The Nature of Feeling is a culmination of who we were at the time of the release. Our
newer stuff is heavier, but this stuff has a place for rockers as well. I think people should pick it up
because you can hear the maturity, the promise, and the emotion in the music.
6.How would you categorize the style of the band? And did you ever consider or try playing other
styles of music than the one you are playing now?
-We’ve always been rockers. I think we’ve all experimented with different styles of rock
but generally, have been in this scene. I would categorize us as a modern hard rock band, but we
definitely bring an original twist.
7.Can you share with us one or two of your favorite moments with the band?
-
8. Does the entire band contribute to the writing process?
-We have a process that a few of the members do. It’s sort of a process. A creation, a
filter, a reflection, and another filter….all before being filtered in studio again.
9.How important do you rate the lyrical side of your albums?
-Our lyrics are our message. They are crucial to us and to our intentions to connect with
the fans. They are chosen carefully, each word.
10.What are your current tour plans or upcoming shows, if any?
-We’re currently booking shows now and planning on getting our debut full-length out in
the near future. A tour will follow that.
11.Describe your live performance?
-We’re energetic. We try to connect with fans and win over doubters.
12.What one Album should everyone have in their collection?
-RED’s Innoncence and Instinct. Maybe the most influential album on me of all time.
13.Tell us about your local music scene?
-Minneapolis is an interesting scene. The rock scene is still alive, but has also seen
better days in my opinion. With that said though, there is still a lot of opportunity and people out
here looking for good music.
14.Why do you think people are into your music?
-It’s real. We do it for you.
15.If we were to look at your IPod, what would we find in your music collection?
-Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, A Perfect Circle, 12 Stones, Sevendust, and tons of other
rock and hardcore bands.
16.Would there be any one band or musician that would surprise us that you are listening to
them?
-Hmm..I’d say my guilty pleasure is the Goo Goo Dolls.
17.Where can our readers find your band on the internet?
Check us out on facebook, myspace, reverbnation, twitter, itunes, amazon and more.
